WINDPASSENGER ORGANIZES THE FIRST EDITION OF "RUBIS GÁS UP - HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL”

Rubis Gás UP - Hot Air Balloon Festival in Coruche is certainly the world's newest festival, but was created with the ambition of becoming, in the coming years, an annual event recognized and sought by both Portuguese and foreign people.
The festival 1st edition will take place in the municipality of Coruche, between March 28 and April 2, 2017. It foresees the participation of 35 to 40 ballooning teams with 20 percent of special shaped balloons, from Portugal and several countries of the world, under the Technical Direction of Guido Van Der Velden dos Santos, chief operating officer and pilot responsible for Windpassenger flights. A surprising spectacle that will not be indifferent to people. Only 45 minutes from Lisbon.
Organized by Windpassenger, with the support of Rubis Gas, Coruche Town Hall and Paladin, the festival prepared an agenda full of memorable moments. For six days, visitors will be able to fly free alongside experienced pilots; Observe the Ribatejo village from the sky in a static balloon; Watch the stunning Night Glow, a beautiful show of light and sound, where the balloons will synchronize their burners to the rhythm of the music; Crafts and activities for the whole family. The food and refreshments will be in charge of the village traditional restaurants and of a diverse street food chain for all tastes around the Coruche bullfight arena.
On April 1st, the event will be broadcasted live on television, on "AQUI PORTUGAL", in RTP1, between 2:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
One of the concerns of the Rubis Gás UP - Hot air balloon festival is the social and environmental responsibility. To make the event more sustainable, the festival will contribute to plant trees in the municipality that hosts the event. Visitors will be invited to purchase a tree that will also give them access to a hot air balloon ride. The trees are
native species and will be planted in Herdade dos Concelhos, as from October 2017 to ensure their survival on the field. Part of the value of these sales will revert to the largest Portuguese environmental organization, Quercus - National Association for Nature Conservation.
